They came west in 1887, first settled in Garðar, N. Dakota but moved from there after two years to the Þingvalla settlement in Saskatchewan. Tremendous droughts on the plain drove them off their land three years later. They then went east to Selkirk, Manitoba and lived there for the next nine years. Then they moved west to the Pacific Ocean and settled in Blaine, Washington.
