Sigríður emigrated west with Jón Bjarnason and his wife in 1873 to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There Sigríður met Skúli and they moved to New Iceland in 1876. They moved from there in early 1881 to the Argyle Settlement where Sigríður died.
