Einar came west in 1875 and first went to Boston in the US. He left there for Parry Sound, Ontario in Canada, as a few Icelanders had gone there the year before. He lived there for three years but moved to Winnipeg in 1878. His family had come to New Iceland, i.e. Árni, his brother. Eyjólfur Kristjánsson from Breiðavað in S. Múlasýsla came to Winnipeg the same year with his family. Einar married Sigríður and Árni married Margrét, both Eyjólfsdóttir. They moved south to N. Dakota in 1879 and settled in the Carlisle Settlement, east of the village of Cavalier. The brothers lived there until 1895, when Einar sold his farm and moved west in N. Dakota to the Cavalier Settlement, then moved to San Diego, California in 1920.
