Sigríður Haraldsdóttir was born in Eyjafjarðarsýsla on August 24, 1892.

Einar came to Winnipeg in 1920 and worked as a house painter. Sigríður came west to Canada in 1922 and went to live with her uncle, Jón Thorlacius, in Leslie in the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan. From there she went to Winnipeg where she worked as a dressmaker. She and Einar moved west to Vancouver in 1944.
