They came west in 1883 and went to New Iceland. They were there one year and next moved to Selkirk where Jón worked in a store. They then settled in the Hóla Settlement in 1890 and were on their land for five years. They moved to Glenboro in 1895 and shortly after 1897 moved to Winnipeg. They lived there after that and Jón worked as a carpenter.
