Gróa Sigríður Þorsteinsdóttir was born on April 17, 1875 in W. Skaftafellssýsla. She died on December 30, 1973.
Spouse: 1) Hallvarður Ólafsson b. March 27, 1872 in Rangárvallasýsla, d. May 29, 1914 in Masset on Queen Charlotte island. 2) Kristján Einarsson b. in Rangárvallasýsla on July 13, 1873, d. December 8, 1964 in Ósland.
Children: With Hallvarður: 1. Ólafur b. February 13, 1904, d. March 8, 1993 in Prince Rupert, British Columbia 2. Þórhildur b. February 4, 1907 3. Svanhvít b. May 30, 1908, d. October 26, 2000 in Vancouver. With Kristján: 1. Ásta Katrín 2. Elín Jóhanna b. July 17, 1917.
Hallvarður came west to Winnipeg in 1909 and Gróa Sigríður arrived there with the children in 1911. In 1912, they moved west to the Pacific and settled on Queen Charlotte island. Kristján came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1910 and worked as a carpenter. He later moved to Masset on Queen Charlotte island in British Columbia and married the widow Gróa Sigríður. They moved to the town of Ósland where Kristján was a salmon fisherman in the summer and a carpenter in the winter.
