Sigþrúður Þorkelsdóttir was born on July 31, 1854 in S. Múlasýsla. She died on January 25, 1895 in N. Dakota.

Children: 1. Þorkell Scheving b. August 27, 1875. He was either born at sea while coming west or on the land journey to New Iceland, d. 1876. 2. Ólöf Sigríður b. December 17, 1877. 3. Lára Axelína b. September 15, 1879, d. April 3, 1894. 4. Þorkell Scheving b. September 13, 1882, d. August 8, 1893. 5. Gestur b. July 3, 1892.
Pétur and Sigþrúður came west in 1875 with Einar, Sigþrúður’s brother, traveling with them. They were part of the first group coming to New Iceland in October 1875. They took land in Breiðuvík in the Hnausa Settlement and called their land Eyrarbakki. They moved from there after a number of years and settled on land south of Cavalier, N. Dakota. In 1901, Pétur moved west to the sea and moved to Seattle. He bought land in 1909 in Birch Bay and lived there many years.
