Sigtryggur Tryggvi Kristjánsson was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on April 22, 1880. He died in Selkirk, Manitoba on August 24, 1969.

Sigtryggur came west in 1888 with his parents, Kristján Guðmundsson and Helga Þórðardóttir, and siblings. They moved to Manitoba. Sigtryggur became a teacher and taught in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Kristín came west in 1913 and married Sigtryggur a year later in Wynyard in the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð). They lived there until 1918, then moved to Lundar, Manitoba and lived there until 1925. The road led them to Gimli where they were until 1930. Then Kristín moved to Iceland.
