Sigurbjörg and her mother, Hólmfríður Björnsdóttir, came west in 1887 with boy Sigurbjörn. They moved to Winnipeg and Sigurbjörg married Ólafur Valdimar there about 1890; he had come west in 1888. They lived in Winnipeg, but after the turn of the century, they moved to Aðalból in the Hnausa Settlement and lived there 1906 – 1908.
