Sigurður Gestsson was born at Hagai in the Geysir settlement on December 7, 1896. He died in Manitoba on March 31, 1975. He had the name Sigurdur Oddleifson in the west.

Children: 1. Þórey Jónína 2. Gestur Einar b. October 23, 1922 3. Sigurður Óskar b. in Arborg on October 15, 1925.
Sigurður was the son of Gestur Oddleifsson and Þórey Stefánsdóttir, b. July 2, 1867, d. October 15, 1946. Sigurður grew up in the Geysir community and attended school there. Sigurður and Þórey settled on land a number of kilometers norther of Arborg on land that Sigtryggur Jónasson had homesteaded. He had built a handsome house on the farm, and it was Sigurður and Ólafar’s first home. Sigurður always farmed this land. Ólöf Anna was the daughter of Einar Jónasson who was chosen for the land survey committee in Ontario in 1875 and traveled to Manitoba the same year with Sigtryggur Jónasson and others.
