Sigurður Magnússon was born on June 19, 1852 in Borgarfjarðarsýsla.
Spouse: 1) Kristín Lilja Brynjólfsdóttir b. 1858 in Húnavatnssýsla, d. 1889 in Winnipeg. 2) Una Jónsdóttir b. September 25, 1858 in Húnavatnssýsla.

Sigurður came west in 1888 and settled in Winnipeg. He married Kristín Lilja the same year. She was the daughter of Brynjólfur (Brynjúlfs?) Halldórsson and Kristjana Guðmundsdóttir at Efri-Torfastaðir in Húnavatnssýsla. Sigurður worked mostly in carpentry in Winnipeg until 1905, but moved with his family to the Pine Valley settlement and started farming there. In 1930, he and Una moved to the village of Piney.
