Sigurður emigrated from the Westmann Islands (Vestmannaeyjar) in 1884 west to Mountain, N. Dakota where he lived for a short time. He then moved to Spanish Fork, Utah. Guðný emigrated west in 1889, Hjálmfríður emigrated in 1891.
