They came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1888 with Árni, Valgerður, and Ólína. It is unclear about Helgi’s trip west, he adopted the name Harry Norman in Winnipeg, where he studied baking. He moved west to Seattle where he opened a bakery and called Norman’s Bakery. The family settled in Gimli in New Iceland. Guðrún moved west to Alberta in 1914.
