Sigurgeir Rósberg Sigurgeirsson was born in Mikley in New Iceland on October 8, 1892. He died in Riverton on November 21, 1952.

Sigurgeir was the son of Vilhjálmur Sigurgeirsson and Kristín Þóra Helgadóttir pioneers in Mikley, Manitoba. He grew up in New Iceland and lived there his entire life. He started farming at Heytangi in the Ísafold Settlement and also fished in Lake Winnipeg. From there he moved to Mikley and started fishing there. For a time, he transported mail between Mikley and Riverton. In 1943 he bought the land Ós by the Icelandic River (Íslendingafljót) and lived there after that. Kristbjörg was the daughter of Márus Jónasson and Ingibjörg Brynjólfsdóttir, pioneers in Mikley.
