Sigurrós Guðrún Jónsdóttir was born on December 18, 1865 in Húnavatnssýsla. She died in Manitoba on March 1, 1947.

Sigurrós came west with her parents, Jón Árnason and Sigurlaug Jónsdóttir, in 1886. They settled in the Hnausa Settlement. Albert came west with his father, Sigursteinn Halldórsson and his step mother, Sigríður Jónsdóttir, in 1876. They also settled in the Hnausa Settlement in New Iceland and called their land Nýibær. Albert and Sigurrós took land in the Geysir Settlement in 1889 and called it Selsstaðir. They lived there until 1931 when they moved to the Hnausa Settlement.
