Sigursteinn Halldórsson was born on October 23, 1842 in Axarfjordur in N. Þingeyjarsýsla. He died on November 19, 1911 in the Geysir Settlement.
Spouse: Sigríður Jónsdóttir b. April 20, 1835, d. January 20, 1917 in the Geysir Settlement.
Children: Sigursteinn and Sigríður had no children together, but Sigursteinn had a son, Albert b. 1867, with his first wife, Rannveig Friðfinnsdóttir.
They all emigrated west in 1876. They took land at Breiðuvík in the Hnausa Settlement and Sigursteinn named the farm Nýjabæ. They moved to the Geysir Settlement and lived with Albert in 1911.
