He took land in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1910 in the Kandahar/Dafoe area. Tómasína came west with her mother, María Kristjánsdóttir, and siblings after her father’s death in 1906. They went first to Wynyard in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan, but later took land in the Kandahar/Dafoe area.
