They came west in 1883 and began farming in Riverton. In 1886, they took land in the Ísafold Settlement.
Snorri took land in the Vidir-Sandy Hill Settlement in 1902. He moved to Riverton in 1914. Helga Jónsdóttir of Skagafjord and married to Jón Jónsson, ombudsman for Canada in Iceland, came to Snorri with her three children and moved in with him. She followed him to Riverton. Her husband had opened a business in Sauðárkrókur where he died in 1915.
