They came west to Canada in 1878, together with Stefán’s father, Jón Sigurðsson, and Stefán’s siblings. In the Minnesota Census of 1880, Stefán is listed in Royal Township in Lincoln County with his sister, but no mention is made of Solveig or their son Jón. No information can be found about the fate of Solveig and Jón, he was not a year old when the trip to the west began, maybe it was too much for them.
