Stefán Brynjólfsson was born in Húnavatnssýsla in 1840. He died in Sheridan, Oregon before 1914.
Spouse: 1) Guðrún Guðmundsdóttir b. in Húnavatnssýsla in 1830, d. 1875 in Markland, Nova Scotia. 2) Helga Erlendsdóttir b. 1850 in S. Múlasýsla, d. 1918 in Portland, Oregon.
Children: Sigríður Ingibjörg b. in Húnavatnssýsla in 1864, d. 1875 in Markland. Helga had a daughter earlier, Jónína Jónsdóttir, b. in Markland in 1875. Stefan and Helga had a foster son, Pall Björnsson.
They emigrated west to Kinmount, Ontario in 1874. With them was a foster daughter, Valgerður Kristjánsdóttir, b. 1858. They travelled to Markland, Nova Scotia where Stefán lived until 1881, when he moved to Minnesota, lived there for a short time and then moved north to Winnipeg where he lived until 1883. Stefán bought land in the Garðar Settlement in N. Dakota and lived there many years, but ended up in Oregon on the west coast.
