Stefán Guðmundsson was born in Skagafjarðarsýsla on October 3, 1853. He died in Alberta on August 9, 1927. He took the name Stephan G. Stephansson in the west beginning in 1884.
Spouse: August 28, 1878 Helga Sigríður Jónsdóttir b. in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on July 3, 1859, d. December 12, 1940.

Stefán emigrated west to Wisconsin in 1873 and lived in Stoughton in Dane County. He took land in Shawano County in the fall of 1874 and then moved west to the Garðar Settlement in N. Dakota in 1880. They moved west to Alberta and bought land just outside of Markerville.

Marriage certificate issued by Reverend Páll Þorláksson in Shawano. He had moved from New Iceland south to N. Dakota, where he founded the Icelandic colony. He left there and went east to Wisconsin, where he performed various religious ceremonies, marriages, and baptisms.
