Stefán Ólafsson was born in N. Múlasýsla on August 8, 1860. He died on September 19, 1948 in the Lundar Settlement.

Stefán came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1879. Petrína arrived there in 1888, traveling with Stefán’s good friend, Gísli Grímsson, who lived with them all the time. Stefán and Petrína got married a year later and lived in Winnipeg until the turn of the century. They moved to the Lundar Settlement and lived there on their land.
