Stefán Þorsteinsson and Sigurborg Sigfúsdóttir Photo: Hnausa Reflections
Stefán Þorsteinsson was born in Vopnafjarðarhreppur in N. Múlasýsla on October 12, 1833. He died on March 15, 1893.
Spouse: Sigurborg Sigfúsdóttir b. 1833 in N. Þingeyjarsýsla, d. 1900.
Children: 1. Sigríður b. 1862 2. Þórey b. 1867 3. Steinunn b. 1873.
They came west in 1876 and spent the first winter near Gimli. They moved to the Hnausa Settlement a year later. They lived there four years, but then moved in 1881 out to Mikley and lived there a few years. Then the road led them to Selkirk for two years, then to Winnipeg for a number of years. They returned to their land in the Hnausa Settlement and lived there for a short time but moved from there to the Geysir Settlement and lived with their daughter, Þórey and her husband, Gestur Oddleifsson, until their dying days.
