Jón came west to Ontario, Canada by sea with his mother, brother, and sister in 1876. His father, Einar Jónsson, was living there. They moved east to Markland, Nova Scotia and then to N. Dakota in 1881. He settled in Beaulieu, west of Hallson. Steinvör came west to N. Dakota in 1883.
