Þóra Sigurðardóttir was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on October 2, 1856. She died in the Argyle settlement in Manitoba on June 14, 1897.

Hernit and Þóra came west with their son Pétur in 1883 and took land in the Argyle settlement in 1884. In 1906, Hernit moved to the east of the settlement and in 1912 he bought the land south of the lake near the Frelsi church.
