Þorbjörg Sigurbjörnsdóttir was born in Dalasýsla on July 30, 1874. She died in Winnipeg on September 13, 1901.
Spouse: Ívar Jónasson b. in Snæfellsnessýsla in 1860, d. February 25, 1940 at Betel in Gimli, Manitoba.
Children: 1. Guðrún b. August 1901.
Þorbjörg came west to Winnipeg in 1883 with her parents, Sigurbjörn Guðmundsson and Guðrún Jóhannesdóttir. Her mother died shortly after arriving in the city. Sigurbjörn remarried and his wife, Gróa Magnúsdóttir, took over as Þorbjörg’s mother. They settled in the Lundar Settlement and raised little Guðrún to adulthood. She moved from there to live with Þuríður, her mother’s sister, in Winnipeg.
