Þórdís came west in 1876 with her parents, Davíð Jónsson and Þórdís Guðmundsdóttir. They first lived in New Iceland, but then moved to N. Dakota. Geirmundur was the son of Bjarni Olgeirsson and Guðrún Ásmundsdóttir who came west in 1879. They first lived in New Iceland, but then took land in the Garðar Settlement in N. Dakota in 1881. Geirmundur lived there the rest of his life.
