Þórður Helgason was born in Mýrasýsla on December 12, 1871. He died on December 1, 1960.
Spouse: 1897 Halldóra Geirsdóttir b. December 15, 1875 in Norður-Þingeyjarsýsla, d. December 17, 1958.
Children: 1. Regína Jóhanna b. May 19, 1898 2. Geirþrúður Fedora Valgerður b. December 18, 1899 3. Helga Magnea b. September 9, 1905 4. Halldóra Soffía b. November, 1907 5. Ingiríður Ásta b. July 20, 1915 6. Rebekka Florence b. December 18, 1916. Hannes Þórður Hafsteinn died at the age of 12.
Þórður emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his parents in 1887. Halldóra emigrated with her parents in 1893. They moved to New Iceland in 1901 and settled in the Framnes- and Árdals Settlement. They named their farm Laufás and lived there for many years. In 1939 they sold the farm and moved to Winnipeg where they lived a few years before retiring to Vancouver.
