Þorleifur and Sigríður came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1891 with sons Pétur Karl and Jón. With them was their daughter Helga, her husband, Björn Þorbergsson, and their children. Björn was the brother of Sigríður, Þorleifur’s wife. Other children of Þorleifur had come west earlier. Þorleifur and Sigríður moved to the Lögberg Settlement in Saskatchewan.
