Þórvör Jónasdóttir was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on April 29, 1859. She died on May 4, 1934.

Þórvör emigrated west to New Iceland in 1876 with her parents, Jónas Kortsson and Margrét Sveinsdóttir. They moved south to N. Dakota in 1879 and Þórvör lived there all the time with the exception of a few months in 1914-15.
