Þuríður Sveinsdóttir was born on October 15, 1852 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla. She died in Saskatchewan on March 17, 1914 and buried in Mountain, N. Dakota on March 25.

Spouse: 1) 1877 Jón Þórarinsson, b. January 21, 1849, d. Apil 25, 1891 2) July 1, 1899 Indriði Sigurðsson, d. October 23, 1912 in Saskatchewan.  He was buried on October 31 in Mountain, N. Dakota.

Þuríður was a widow when she emigrated west with her five children in 1891. They traveled to her sister Þórvarar who lived with her husband, Jón Halldórsson in Long Pine, Nebraska. They lived there five years before moving to Mountain, N. Dakota in 1896. Jón Halldórsson’s brother, Kristján, led the people in a horse-drawn wagon train and the journey took six weeks. Þuríður lived there for a while with her brother Sigurjón, but later married Indriður Sigurðsson and they lived on their farm near the village of Munich, west of Mountain. In 1903 they bought a house in the village of Edinburgh and lived there until 1910, when Indriður and his stepsons went north and settled in Saskatchewan. Þuríður moved there in May, 1911.
