Una was the daughter of Sigurður Pétursson and Þorbjörg Eiríksdóttir who came west in 1876 and settled in New Iceland. Ófeigur first came west in 1880, went back to Iceland, but returned west from Akureyri in 1883. He lived in N. Dakota until 1911, moved north to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan, and settled in Wynyard. He lived there the rest of his life.
