Björn Sigvaldason came to Canada in 1874. He was first in Kinmount, Ontario, then Markland, Nova Scotia, and lastly in the Argyle Settlement in Manitoba after 1880. He sent his mother and stepfather money for them to come to him. They arrived there in 1888 and lived with him and his family. When their son Páll had settled in the village, they moved in with him.
