Sigurður and Valgerður came west in 1876 to Winnipeg, Manitoba and went directly to New Iceland. They lived there until 1880 then moved south to Pembina, N. Dakota. They moved west from there to Victoria, British Columbia in 1887 and lived there a while but moved in 1894 to Point Roberts peninsula in Washington. They were there for some years but returned to Victoria. Sigurður moved in 1914 to Point Roberts peninsula and lived there the rest of his life.
