Vigdís Jónsdóttir was born on June 3, 1845 in the Westmann Islands (Vestmannaeyjar). She took the name Vigdis Evanson in the west.

Spouse: October 20, 1881 Jón Eyvindsson born in Rangárvallasýsla on June 14, 1845. He died in Alberta, Canada on October 3, 1917. He took the name John Evanson in the west.

Children: John Evan b. October 18, 1883, d. June 7, 1942 in Alberta. Vígdís had children earlier: 1. Jóhanna Sigríður Árnadóttir lived in Montana 2. Ingveldur b. June 28, 1867, d. March 2, 1948 in Alberta 3. Árni b. July 15, 1870. He came west to Utah but later returned to Iceland 4. Hildur b. July 9, 1873 lived in Alberta.

Jón emigrated west to Spanish Fork, Utah on May 17, 1878. He returned as a Mormon missionary to Vestmannaeyjar in 1879 and worked there as a missionary until 1881. He returned west on July 16, 1881, accompanied by Vidgis’ daughter, Ingveldur Árnadóttir. He married Vigdís later that year. She was a widow in Utah, having arrived there in 1880. Jón and Vigdís lived in Spanish Fork and later in Scofield, Utah, but like countless other countrymen, they moved to Alberta, Canada in 1903 and settled in Taber.
