Vigfús and Þóra emigrated west in 1891 to Winnipeg, Manitoba. They returned to Iceland in 1893 and stayed in Sauðárkrókur until 1900, but then moved back west. They were one year in N. Dakota and another in Winnipeg, but then moved to the Þingvalla Settlement in Saskatchewan and settled there.
