Vigfús Þorsteinsson was born on October 23, 1853 in Gullbringusýsla.
Spouse: Guðríður Guðmundsdóttir b. August 4, 1855 in Borgarfjarðarsýsla.

Vigfús and Guðríður came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1883. They lived there for a while, but then moved to Shellmouth, Saskatchewan and to the Þingvalla Settlement in 1886. In 1894, they went to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba and from there to Big Point. In 1898, they moved to Big Grass, Manitoba, where they lived for several years. They next moved to the Beaver settlement, south of Westbourne, where they lived for several years. They moved from there to Lundar, but continued farming on their land in Beaver.
