Vilborg was the daughter of Gunnlaugur Bjarnason and Helga Þorvarðardóttir. She and Halldór came west in 1889 to Winnipeg, Manitoba and from there onward to Cavalier, N. Dakota. moved north to the Lundar Settlement in 1891 and lived there.
