They emigrated west to Utah in 1885 and settled in Spanish Fork. Jóhannes was a salesman and chose Utah and the Mormon faith 1905. He was left there when Vilborg took the children and moved north to Manitoba. She took land in the Geysir settlement and lived there seven years. She and the children then went west to Washington on the Pacific ocean.
