Guðni Gestsson was born in N. Þingeyjarsýsla on May 2, 1862. He died in N. Dakota on June 18, 1923.
Spouse: 1) Guðlaug Jónsdóttir b. in N. Þingeyjarsýsla in 1858, d. May 15, 1902 in N. Dakota. 2) July 15, 1904 Anna Kristjánsdóttir of Skagafjörður, d. January 19, 1928.
Children: With Guðlaug: 1. Elísabet b. in N. Dakota on October 20, 1889 2. Björg Þrúður b. July 13, 1893 3. Gunnlaugur b. March 2, 1895 4. Magnea b. December 28, 1896. With Anna: 1. Guðlaug Rut b. September 4, 1906 2. Sigurjóna b. April 13, 1906. Anna Kristjánsdóttir came to Mountain in 1903, a widow with five children. They grew up in the home of Guðni and their mother.
Guðni came west across the sea in 1887 and settled in the Víkur settlement in N. Dakota.
