Guðbjörg Sigurðardóttir was born in Seyðisfjörður in S. Múlasýsla on April 22, 1885.

Unmarried and childless.

Guðbjörg was the daughter of Anna Guðmundsdóttir and Sigurður Sigurðsson in Björgvin at Seyðisfjörður. Sigurður came to the West alone in 1893, wrote a few letters the first year, but then nothing else was heard from him. Some believe he disappeared in search of gold in Alaska. Guðbjörg stayed with her mother and brothers, Jón, Sigurður, Guðmundur Berg, and Eyvindur, at Seyðisfjörður until she was twenty. Then the family came west across the ocean to Winnipeg.

Guðbjörg worked in the city all the time, mostly in shops.
