Sigríður Pálsdóttir was born on January 26, 1871 in Skagafjarðarsýsla. She died in Gimli on January 24, 1950.
Spouse: 1888 Hans Pétur Tærgesen b.in Eyjafjarðarsýsla on February 16, 1863, d. Gimli on November 18, 1954. Tærgesen was changed to Tergesen in the west.
Children: 1. Anna 2. Sigurður Pétur 3. Inga 4. Sven Johan 5. Hans Robert 6. Alma. They adopted a daughter, Inga.
Hans came to Canada in 1887 with his mother, Ingibjörg Guðjónsdóttir. Sigríður was in the same group of emigrants and married Hans a year later in the west. They first settled in Calder County, Saskatchewan. In 1893 they moved to Winnipeg and to Gimli on New Year’s Day 1899. There Hans Pétur became a merchant and very active in social affairs. He was mayor of Gimli for three terms.
