Johann and Rosa emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 and from there to New Iceland that same year. Lived in the Icelandic River Settlement until 1880 when they moved south to N. Dakota. Claimed land south of Mountain. Rosa, their daughter left Iceland in 1874 and went to Ontario in Canada. She was later reunited with her parents either in New Iceland or Mountain.
