Guðmundur Guðmundsson was born October 1, 1847 in Norður-Þingeyjarsýsla. Died in Manitoba March 2, 1935. Norðman or Nordman in Canada.

Children: with Guðrún: 1. Guðmundur Kristján b. 1880 2. Guðný Ingibjörg b. 1883 3. Kristján b. 1885 4. Konráð (Conrad) b. 1886. Guðrún had Sigurbjörg Soffía Ólafsdóttir b. 1874 before she married. Guðmundur had a daughter, Halldóra b. June 14, 1874. She emigrated to Manitoba in 1902.
Guðmundur emigrated to Ontario in Canada in 1874 and spent the first winter in Kinmount. He moved east to Nova Scotia a year later, but in 1876 he headed west to New Iceland. Following a brief spell in Icelandic River Settlement he settled in Víðir Settlement south of Gimli. In 1881 he moved to the Argyle Settlement where he lived the rest of his life.
