Jón Bergvinsson was born in Norður-Múlasýsla July 23, 1837. Died in New Iceland January 19, 1881.
Spouse: Vilborg Vigfúsdóttir b. December 9, 1833 í N.Múlasýslu, d. Glenboro, Manitoba January 9, 1906.
Children: 1. Stefán b. September 18, 1859, d. in Winnipeg April 10, 1918. He was Jón’s son. 2. Bergvin b. 1860, d. December 29, 1936 in Arizona 3. Sigríður b. December 1, 1862, d. November 30, 1918 4. Rósa Ingibjörg b. August 18, 1867, d. in Blaine, Washington January 19, 1950 5. Gunnlaugur b. 1873, d. July 12, 1941 in Houston, Texas 6. Halldór b. in Icelandic River Settlement June 9, 1878.
They emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 with Bergvin, Sigríður and Gunnlaugur. Rósa and Stefán emigrated later, Rósa in 1893 and Stefán in 1883. Jón and Vilborg went north to Mikley where they lived until summer of 1878 when they moved to the Icelandic River Settlement. After Jón’s passing, Vilborg decided to move to Winnipeg and she did in 1882. Bergvin moved to Seattle in 1889 and Vilborg went along. Later she returned to Manitoba and lived with her daughter Sigríður in Glenboro.
