They came west to Kinmount, Ontario in 1874. From there they moved to Markland, Nova Scotia and lived there for over six years before moving to Winnipeg. Björn took land in the Argyle Settlement in 1882 and settled there in 1883. He stopped farming in 1907 and shortly afterwards his great-grandson, Líndal J. Hallgrímsson, took over the farm.
