They emigrated west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1883 and traveled on to New Iceland. They took land in the Víðirnes Settlement by Boundary Creek (Merkilæk) in the spring of 1885, where John Taylor lived for the first years of the settlement. In 1901 they moved to Poplar Park lived there for six years. From there, they took the road north to Oakview on Lake Manitoba. They lived there for twelve years and then moved west to Blaine, Washington.
