Guðmundur Jónsson was born on May 4, 1855 at Refsstaðir in N. Múlasýsla. He died on September 11, 1920 in Minneapolis. He took his father’s name Rafnson in the west.
Spouse: 1) Jósefína Sigurðardóttir b. 1853, d. December 3, 1891 2) Aðalbjörg Ásbjörnsdóttir b. c1864. She was known as Belle Kline in the west.

Guðmundur and Jósefína came west in 1889 and lived in Marshall, Minnesota. Guðmundur moved to Minneota after Jósefína died where he worked as a clerk in a butcher shop. He and Aðalbjörg moved to Minneapolis around 1920.
