Sigurður Einarsson was born on May 24, 1852 in N. Þingeyjarsýsla. He died in San Francisco on January 4, 1922. He took the last name Anderson in the west.
Spouse: 1) Oktavía Jóhannesdóttir b. 1863, d. in N. Dakota 1884. 2) Halldóra Guðmundsdóttir b. in Húnavatnssýsla on July 16, 1871, d. January 20, 1934.
Children: With Oktavía: 1. Hannes b. March 1, 1883 in Iceland, d. April 15, 1964. With Halldóra: 1. Margrét María b. in Garðar, N. Dakota April 12, 1895 2. Guðmundur b. April 12, 1899 3. Einar.
Sigurður and Oktavía came west in 1883 and settled near Mountain, N. Dakota. With them were Oktavía’s parents, Jóhannes Torfason and Helga Daníelsdóttir, and their children. Sigurður became a house painter and worked in Winnipeg where he met Halldóra. She emigrated to Winnipeg in 1889. They lived south of Garðar, North Dakota until the turn of the century, then returned to Winnipeg. Their daughter Margrét became a singer and worked for over 30 years in San Francisco, where her parents lived in their later years.
