Arnþóra came west to N. Dakota in 1883 with her parents, Jóhannes Torfason and Helga Daníelsdóttir. Sigurjón was a hired hand for Jóhannes and came west with them. He and Arnþóra bought land in the Eyford Settlement and lived there until 1916. They then moved to the village of Grafton, North Dakota.
